Speaker Profile

Dr. Jamillah Moore., is the Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at San Francisco State University.  Her research focuses on affirmative action in higher education admission.  She is also the author of Race and College Admissions:  A Case for Affirmative Action (McFarland Publishers 2022).  Her book was described by New York Times- bestselling author Dr. Cornel West as “a superb, comprehensive and compelling case for Affirmative Action.”  

Jamillah is a prominent social justice advocate and higher education leader; Dr. Moore is recognized as an advocate for educational access and equity with a focus on student success for minoritized and low-income students. She has become known for her passion for educational excellence, commitment to students, and tackling difficult issues. Her work examines the intersection of race, access, and institutional failure. Her research on affirmative action and college admissions has been recognized by professional organizations and garnered praise from higher education leaders and activists. She has consulted with college systems and policymaking organizations in California and Washington D.C. on educational policy issues. She was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to serve on the California Student Aid Commission and served as Vice-Chair of the Commission from 2019-2021.

Jamillah is often featured as a speaker and panelist at Higher Education Institutes and Speaker Series.  She is in high demand as a speaker for both courses, campus, and associations.
